The ethos of Abraham Moss Warriors is to bring people together and improve the lives of young people and their families in the area and our motto is “All different, All Equal, All Welcome”. While our main focus is bringing the community together through sport and other physical activities with players of all abilities, we do boast many successes with our Abraham Moss Warriors football teams.

As well as our success on the football pitch, we also take great pride in the work we do to help break down social divides, raise self-esteem and improve racial harmony and community spirit through team building activities. Here are some of our achievements to date:

• Affiliations with Local F.A. and Leagues
  In 2001 we became affiliated to the Manchester F.A. and entered an Under 10s and Under 13s team in the Bury North League.
• Gained Charter Standard Status
  In the same year we also gained Charter Standard Status
• Primary School Success
  We’ve established good links with the local primary schools, with many of our players coming from St. Chads Primary School and Temple Primary School. Temple Primary School went on to become Charter Standard School of the year for five consecutive years from 2002 to 2007.
• Created History
  When our Under 12s team was thrown out of the league in 2003 because we asked to have time off so many members of the team could observe Ramadan, we took the matter to the National F.A. and won the right for all teams nationwide to observe religious holidays for all faiths.
• Coach Training
  We know that behind every good team, there is a great coach and over the years, the club has trained 16 qualified football coaches.
• Teaching Fair Play and Respect
  The Abraham Moss Warriors won the prestigious Manchester Fair Play award in 2011 and the National RESPECT award in 2012.
  

In 2012, Abraham Moss Warriors was awarded the first National FA Respect Club of the Year, a prestigious annual award presented by the Football Association to clubs and individuals in recognition for providing the best developmental opportunities in a respectful, safe and fun environment.
Other accolades received by the Warriors include the Queens Award in 2014, which is the group equivalent of an MBE. Our head coach and founder, June Kelly, was awarded the M.B.E. in 2010 and a Pride of Britain award in 2013 for her work with the community.

• Abraham Moss Warriors Football club was formed in 2000 and became a multi sports club in 2016
• Became a Charter Standard club in 2001
• Won Manchester Charter Standard Club of the Year 2002,2003,2005,2009,2010,2013

• 2004 Warriors changing the rules -First National rule change in 51 years by the FA over religious observance forced by Abraham Moss Warriors

*In 2004 Abraham Moss Warriors hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons, when June had to take on the National Football Association, after the Warriors were thrown out of the league for not wanting to play during Ramadan as most of the team were fasting as part of their religious observance.

That all members of the team had an equal chance of playing football, involved her lobbying the National FA; a process that took 15 months, however she was instrumental in getting a National rule change so that nobody had to play on days that coincide with religious festivals.

This was the first National rule change in 51 years! This has enabled hundreds if not thousands of players to be able to play football whilst not be penalised due to religious beliefs.
